March 2021 Newsletter & SNACK HEROS GIVEAWAY

As we reach the one year anniversary of our entrance into lockdown, I see the impact of the year on my friends and family, and I feel it myself. Even performing regular day-to-day tasks has become difficult. In the past, when I’ve felt this way, my instinct has always been to freshen up my routine or add a new hobby. Perhaps, however, the answer right now isn’t to add anything at all. Perhaps the best course of action is to do less, and rest, as the emotional toll of managing these extreme circumstances continues to wear us down. Where can we simplify our life? Where can we lift expectations of ourselves? I am asking myself these questions in the hopes of giving my body, mind and heart a much-needed rest.

Last month, I took a class on the practice of Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a type of conscious Sleep where deeper states of relaxation is reached. Unlike regular sleep which does not always resolved tension and discomfort, Yoga Nidra restores mental, emotional and physical health by revitalizing and relaxing our subtle energies. It is written that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is like 3 hours of deep sleep state.

This form of meditation allows practitioners to reach deeper levels of relaxation and has a whole host of physical and physiological benefits. It allowed me to fully release the physical tension and pain in my hip after the class. I left the class feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

Our instructor, Cheryl Plewis, was excellent and she read us this poem by an unknown author:

Inspired by the lenten practice of a 40-day sacrifice, this article describes the increased, observable benefits of giving up pleasurable foods, drinks and activities. It reminded me that restricting the enjoyment of these gifts only intensifies the endorphin rush one feels when indulgence is allowed. It made me reflect on the areas of my life where I am able to execute control, and how much confidence that gives me. What can you let go of this month, as a gift to yourself?

Snack Heros is one years old! And we are giving away 10 snack boxes to the office hero (one in each office). Tell us about your office hero and that can be anyone who has gone above and beyond or just the person who is kind and makes you feel good. Reply and send us the story of your office hero!

The Easter Bunnies are hopping in early this year! Let us help you send out the Easter eggs before the bunnies arrives.

I hope this offer to let go will serve you as it did for me. Holding on to responsibilities, obsessions or routines/behaviours that don’t serve us will only hamper our journey forward.

When we slow down, pause and take the time we can escalate our effectiveness, make better decisions and create powerful habits that serve us. We need time off to heal, so I invite you to release what is weighing you down.

All my very best,
